This may seem insignificant, but in addition to making guarding an option that has little risk and great reward: it also affects what moves you use and how you use them.įor example, if you're playing as a character that has a decently fast normal attack (Seiya, Hades, etc.): you can use the first three hits of your normal attack combo against a guarding opponent, stop, and repeat the same hits again until you break your opponents guard. What makes Soldiers' Soul combat system different, is that it doesn't have a dedicated "Guard Break" attack, aside from throws: which are painfully deliberate and easy to avoid. If you've played both of the aforementioned games, then you'll recognize some moves that function similarly here: such as "Lightspeed Move" (Substitution Jutsu), "Burst Dash" (Chakra Dash), among others. Looking at the above moves, you could draw the conclusion that the game functions like other 3D anime based fighting games (similar to the "Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm" series or "One Piece: Burning Blood" in some regards), but Soldiers' Soul has a much different meta than both games in comparison. (before hitting the ground after being launched): Jump/Breakfall Understanding how to play the game and some of its more intricate aspects is key, as early in the game you'll be forced to play as weaker characters and battles can seem unwinnable unless you understand the game's core mechanics. Grinding aside, if you find yourself lucky enough to collect all of the Assist Phrases without too much trouble then you'll see that Soldiers' Soul is a relative breeze to Platinum. None of the trophies are particularly difficult in their own right, but since you are tasked with collecting most of the in game titles and Assist Phrases (80% of all Titles, All Assist Phrases): you'll find yourself forced to replay an Offline mode to grind for Assist Phrases at the mercy of the RNG gods. Trophy-Wise, Soldiers' Soul is an easy game to Platinum, albeit time consuming.

In addition to the story mode, there are plenty of other Offline modes to keep the fun going including Survival and Battle of Gold mode in addition to an Online Mode (luckily there are no trophies tied to Online Mode!). Soldiers' Soul follows the manga's storyline, from the 12 Houses Arc all the way to the Hades Arc.

Saint Seiya: Soldiers' Soul is a third person fighting game developed by Dimps and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.
